Why Templates Dont Work For Your Business

I have had a lot of customers ask why not just use a template (there are some designer who do this!). Here are some great reasons not to use a template;

Templates require you to fit your ideas into their structure. – AKA Compromise

When you pick a template you end up having to sacrifice how you want to display your information. Frequently you have to compromise on how it looks and how it fits your needs. This is one the biggest problems of getting a template. With a web design you can customize it to exactly how you want.


There can be Hundreds or thousands of website that are exact to yours – AKA no uniqueness

If its popular design there can be thousands of identical website ( other than content) to yours. What does that say about you and your business? Unprofessional! Also your website should reflect your brand, do you want your brand to be the same as thousands of others?

Templates are very hard to ranked on Search engines- AKA NOT Found!

One of Google’s checks is uniqueness, with a clone of thousands of sites your chances of being ranked highly on any search engine is low! If there are 2 sites fighting for a keyword the one with the unique code will win over the template site any day! Doesn’t mean you can’t rank, just means it will be way harder!

Templates use old technology –AKA No Mobile presence

Templates tend to build on older technologies such as flash and java. This means most will not show up smart phones and tablets. You could end up losing out of important traffic! You also may end up with browser compatibility issues. New browsers may have issues displaying your website properly.

Ultimately your best choice is to build something that fits you, which is customized to you and your unique needs.
